ICO checks on cookie compliance in 2024 showed that 2 in 3 companies were not compliant with the legislation.  A new extended review is on the way!

The 2024 review covered the top 200 UK websites, 67% were not PECR compliant and enforcement action was taken.

For 2025 the review has been extended to the top 1000 UK websites.

We expect the penalties to be greater especially for those companies who are still not compliant.

The ICO is also exploring “consent or pay” models.  We expect a high number of these to be non-compliant too.
