online GDPR training WRONG?

Do you use online e-learning for annual GDPR training?

our experiences suggest the content may be incorrect!

In the last couple of weeks we have been asked to comment on the accuracy of online e-learning GDPR training.  The type that many organisations insist all employees complete every year.

It is clearly cheap and provides a tick box solution for evidencing compliance but as a learning method we have our doubts.

Firstly a sample of participants showed that all tried to avoid reading the text and move to the test answers as quickly as possible.  Then by trial and errors retake the test until they passed.

Some learning for sure, but how much we are unsure.

The other big problem we encountered was currency. The ones we looked at all appeared to be written several years ago and not updated to reflect the latest legislation and court rulings.

The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, for example makes significant changes to both the GDPR and PECR.

Training Managers need to ensure the courses they buy are up to date!
